Dubai’s Ruler approves 763ha citizens’ housing development
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, has approved plans to build 763ha of citizens’ housing in the emirate’s Umm Nahd area
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has approved plans to develop 763ha of citizens’ housing.
The residential megaproject, which will be planned by Dubai Municipality (DM), will be located in the emirate’s Umm Nahd-3 area on Dubai-Al Ain Road.
The development is in keeping with governmental efforts to provide housing that positively reflects on Emiratis’ social and economic stability, and enhances their contribution to nation building and development, according to the municipality.
Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah, DM’s director general, said that his team has completed the necessary procedures to plan the residential development. He added that DM would “soon distribute” homes to citizens who have been approved by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment.
Eng Dawoud Al Hajiri, DM’s assistant director general for planning and engineering, revealed that the Umm Nahd-3 development would comprise G+2 units on individual plots of approximately 1,100m2.
“The new area takes into account everything that works to achieve prosperity and stability for citizens,” he explained. “It includes provision for the needs of the population [through] public services, such as schools and public parks, in addition to various commercial services.”
HH Sheikh Mohammed’s approval of the citizens’ housing initiative coincided with this year’s United Nations (UN) World Population Day, the theme of which is ‘Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations’.
