DeSimone opens Dubai office, appoints managing principal
DeSimone Consulting Engineers has appointed Lindel Reid as managing principal of its newly opened office in Dubai
DeSimone Consulting Engineers has opened a new office in Dubai, and has appointed Lindel Reid as its managing principal.
The move comes in a bid to cater to increasing demand for structural design services within the Middle East’s real estate market.
In his new role, Reid will oversee the strategic growth of DeSimone’s presence in Dubai, and contribute to the company’s projects across the wider region.
With more than 20 years of experience in structural and architectural engineering, Reid has worked in technical leadership and business development roles in the UK and the Middle East.
As managing principal, he will work to expand DeSimone’s regional portfolio, which includes projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, and Pakistan.
Commenting on Reid’s appointment, the firm’s president and chief executive, Stephen DeSimone, said: “As we continue to serve our clients in the Middle East, Lindel brings both technical expertise and decades of experience to our expanding project team in the region.
“Lindel’s diverse experience, client relationships, and proven leadership capabilities are a valuable addition to DeSimone,” he added.
During the course of his career, Reid has supported an array of high-profile projects, including hospitals and healthcare centres, residential and commercial buildings, UK private government military schemes, and the redevelopment of several London Underground stations.
Reid has also collaborated with a string of prominent architects. In the UK, he worked with Norman Foster on the Newcastle Opera House and London’s new Wembley Stadium; Jean Nouvel on the One New Change shopping centre; and Terry Farrell on Newcastle’s Centre for Life museum and exhibition facilities.
In the Middle East, Reid worked with the late Zaha Hadid on Dubai’s The Opus, and also helped to design 3D computer models for Siemens’ Abu Dhabi headquarters, which was the first LEED Platinum-certified structure in the emirate.
Established in 1969, US-headquartered DeSimone has offices in New York, Miami, San Francisco, New Haven, Las Vegas, Boston, Chicago, Medellin, and Abu Dhabi. To date, the firm has designed projects in 19 countries.
