Abu Dhabi’s Transco launches $98m worth of expansion projects

Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco) has unveiled $97.8m (AED359m) worth of expansion projects that it plans to undertake in the UAE capital and the country’s northern region.

The expansion plans of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) subsidiary include a $51.5m (AED189m) project that will link the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant to a 400KV power transmission station.

The project, Transco added, will involve the implementation of a dual line between Barakah and Bab.

Another project, valued at $7.4m (AED27m), will see the four reactors of the nuclear power plant linked with the transmission company’s control centre.

Transco will also implement expansion works in the power stations Of Madinat Zayed, Al Saadiyat, Al Bahiya, and Al Shamkha South, in addition to extending a pipeline of 1,400mm diameter from Al Mirfa Water Plant to its pumping station and upgrading Points 2 and 4 along the Fujairah water transmission pipeline.

The Al Mirfa project is valued at $2.3m (AED8.4m), while the Fujairah pipeline upgrade costs $1.6m (AED5.8m), UAE state news agency, WAM, reported.
