Arada, SEWA ink energy agreement for UAE’s $6.5bn Aljada project
Arada has signed an agreement with Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority to develop 16 substations to power its $6.5bn, 2.2km2 Aljada community
Arada has signed an agreement with Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) to establish 16 substations within its $6.5bn (AED24bn) Aljada megaproject.
Signed by HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, chairman of Arada, and HE Dr Rashid Al Leem, chairman of SEWA, the deal will involve the development of one 132kV substation in the north-eastern corner of the community, and 15 additional 33/11kV substations.
UAE-headquartered Arada said that the programme would guarantee power to every section of the 2.2km2 community, which is set to become the Sharjah’s largest ever real estate project.
Arada’s HE Sheikh Al Qasimi commented: “We are delighted to have taken another vital step forward in the development of Aljada. This partnership with SEWA will ensure that residents, workers, and tourists to this destination will benefit from world-class, efficient electricity and transmission networks.”
“This partnership is in line with SEWA’s aim to support the development of Sharjah and to empower local companies,” added SEWA’s HE Dr Al Leem. “We look forward to working with Arada to complete the construction of the substations and networks in a timely manner.”
Arada’s Aljada megaproject was officially unveiled by HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in September 2017. Since its launch, more than 500 units in the development’s Phase 1 have been sold, making it the emirate’s fastest-selling residential community.
In October 2017, Arada launched Anber Community, a collection of 84 villas and townhouses located near to the centre of Aljada. The neighbourhood, which comprises a selection of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, will be constructed in the vicinity of the megaproject’s leisure and entertainment precinct, the Central Hub.
With construction activities scheduled to commence in Q1 2018, Aljada will be developed in 10 phases. Phase 1 is due to be delivered in 2019, and the entire community is expected to complete by 2025.
