ENBD REIT Limited has revealed that significant construction milestones have been reached on the South View School project in Dubai.

According to the Shari’a-compliant real estate investment trust managed by Emirates NBD Asset Management, ground has been broken on the project, with construction expected to complete by September 2018.

ENBD REIT told Construction Week that Global Green Bridge Contracting was awarded the main contract, the value of which ranges from $14.2m to $15.2m (AED52m to AED56m), for the project.

Tim Rose, head of real estate at Emirates NBD Asset Management, commented: “We are pleased to announce that the concrete has been poured for the entire foundation, with the support columns for the next levels to be erected in the coming week.

“The project is currently meeting its delivery timeline for opening at the beginning of the next school year. We believe that this school will enhance the Remraam community with the offer of a first-class British curriculum institution.”

With a total gross floor area of 12,263m2 on a 1.7ha plot, South View School will have the capacity to accommodate nearly 1,800 students and will start from FS1 level through to Grade 12.

ENBD REIT said in a statement that the school will be Interstar Education’s fifth Dubai campus and its second British curriculum school once completed.

Interstar Education, an education company with a presence in the UAE and India, operates the Delhi Private School (CBSE curriculum) and Victory Heights Primary School (British curriculum) in the UAE.

Amit Kothari, executive director of Interstar Education, saidd: “We are looking forward to the complete structure of the school being completed by the end of this year. This is an exciting time for Interstar Education and an important development for local community.

“We have been expanding at a healthy pace, and we are looking forward to the school’s successful first year of operation.”

ENBD REIT has invested in properties across Dubai’s office, residential, and alternative real estate asset classes. In addition to South View, its portfolio includes The Edge in Dubai Internet City, Al Thuraya 1 in Dubai Media City, Burj Daman in DIFC, and Arabian Oryx House in Barsha Heights.

In March 2017, the company raised $105m (AED385.7m) when it listed on Nasdaq Dubai.
