Dubai Civil Defence approves Terraco exterior insulation and finishing system
Terraco is the first firm to receive DCD approval for an exterior insulation and finishing system since the introduction of the updated UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice
Terraco UAE has become the first company to receive Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) approval for an exterior insulation and finishing system (EIFS) since the introduction of the updated UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice.
Tested and certified to NFPA 285, NFPA 268, and ASTM E84 Class A standards, the Terraco EIFS Perma System meets all current DCD requirements.
The system has also been approved by the civil defence authorities of Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Quwain.
The environmentally friendly, non-combustible façade system has been designed to deliver enhanced thermal insulation properties and long-term energy-saving benefits for low-, mid-, and high-rise buildings.
Developed in Europe in the 1950s, EIFSs are defined as non-load bearing cladding systems that provide exterior walls with versatile, insulated, and finished surfaces, while offering excellent thermal performance to eliminate thermal bridging. In Europe, systems similar to EIFSs are known as external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICSs) or external wall insulation (EWI).
EIFSs and ETICs are the external wall-insulation systems recommended by the European Union (EU) to help achieve the CO2 reduction targets stipulated in the Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement.
Having initially launched its EIFS system in the UAE more than 15 years ago, Terraco UAE’s team is equipped to assist clients, consultants, architects, and applicators in designing, specifying, and installing EIFSs.
