China State Construction Engineering Corporation – MEP (CSCEC – MEP) was named Sub-Contractor of the Year at the Construction Week Awards 2017.

The Chinese construction giant’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) arm was praised by our independent panel of industry judges for effectively expanding its business within the Middle East’s MEP segment.

In the words of one panellist, CSCEC – MEP has successfully grown its regional sub-contracting activities without adversely impacting the core civil works conducted by its parent group.

Sudarshan Shetty, chief operating officer of CSCEC ME’s MEP division, said: “This is a fantastic achievement, and I think that credit should go to our president and chief executive officer, Yu Tao, for all of his support. [That said,] the entire team really worked hard [to secure this accolade].”

Commenting on CSCEC – MEP’s upcoming focusses, Shetty continued: “We’re looking forward to working on future projects, such as Silicon Park in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). Silicon Park will [contribute to DSO’s goal of becoming] a smart city, and it will be the first project of its kind in Dubai. We are keen to [finalise] the deal by the end of the year. It will be a very challenging project.”

ALEMCO was named this year’s Highly Commended Sub-Contractor.

Other shortlisted nominations included Alec Fitout, Future Metro, HPBS, and Voltas.

An independent panel of judges, comprising eight of the Middle East’s foremost construction experts, selected winners in 14 categories at the Construction Week Awards 2017.

The event was supported by Gold Sponsors ALEC, HPBS, HBF, EB, National Engineering Bureau (NEB), and Union National Bank (UNB); Silver Sponsors Arabtec, Depa, Future Metro, and WME Consultants; Category Sponsors Construction Computer Software (CCS), DeSimone Structural Engineers, JLG, Kone, Multiplex, and Ramboll; Social Media Partner, WSP; and Post-Event Celebration Sponsor, BAM International.
