Siemens and Electrowatt-Ekono have won the contract to supply, install, test and commission three 132/11kV substations for Dubai Sports City.

Under a contract valued at over US $52 million (AED192 million) Siemens will act as the main contractor, with Electrowatt the lead engineer. Work is expected to take 18 months to complete.

“Having the ability to distribute electricity independently is vital to the entire project,” said Khalid Al Zarooni, president of Dubai Sports City. “These substations will expedite the issue of power distribution to the development.”
