IHG opens first InterContinental Resort in the Middle East

Resort features 190 guest rooms and suites, including 44 Club InterContinental rooms and 38 suites

Hospitality Management Company InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the InterContinental Fujairah Resort in Dibba.

The luxury resort, IHG’s first in the Middle East, consists of a series of low-rise Arabesque village-style buildings and combines contemporary design elements with strong Arab influences that reflect the local heritage and culture.

The resort’s 190 guest rooms and suites, including 44 Club InterContinental Rooms and 38 suites, feature expansive balconies.

InterContinental Fujairah Resort includes amenities such as a gymnasium, O Spa by L'Occitane, four meeting rooms, a boardroom and a ballroom.

The hotel has two dining options - Nama and Drift – along with an outdoor terrace.

Pascal Gauvin, chief operating officer, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our first InterContinental Resort in the Middle East. This marks an important milestone in our journey in the region, as we expand our luxury portfolio to cater to our luxury guests which include international visitors, residents of the UAE looking for an escape from their daily, hectic routine as well as business groups looking for corporate retreats and unique meeting destinations.”

Al Ain Holding chief executive officer Rabih Karam added: “We are delighted to partner with IHG to bring the first InterContinental Resort in the Middle East. Fujairah is fast emerging as an exciting travel destination in the region, and the opening of this landmark hotel is adding a new dimension to the luxury offering and will contribute to the tourism development of the Emirate.”

IHG currently has 81 hotels operating across five of the company’s brands in the Middle East region, including InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites with a further 28 in the development pipeline.

Across the Middle East, there are 26 InterContinental Hotels and Resorts with a further eight in the pipeline.

There are currently 190 InterContinental Hotels and Resorts across the globe, with a further 63 due to open in the next three to five years.
