AccorHotels has completed the interim re-branding of a hotel in Jordan to Le Grand Amman, which will be managed by AccorHotels.

The property consists of 298 rooms and 67 serviced apartments, which was launched in partnership with Iskan Co. for Touristic & Hotel Investments.

Le Grand Amman  is situated in close proximity to the upcoming Abdali Downtown Project, a development that is set to become a leisure, tourism and business hub in Amman.

The hotel is located at the centre of the Shmeisani commercial hub close to key ministries like the Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Interior.

Upon the completion of the first phase of refurbishment by the end of 2019, the property will be christened Sofitel Amman. This will also mark Sofitel’s debut in Jordan.

Sami Elmabrouk, chairman of Iskan Co. for Touristic & Hotel Investments, said: “AccorHotels’ network of hotels across the Middle East and strong distribution platform as we look to expand our hospitality offering within Jordan.

“We are confident that Le Grand Amman – Managed by AccorHotels, which will later be reintroduced as Sofitel Amman, will be a remarkable and unique property within a growing market.”

Sami Nasser, chief operating officer, luxury brands of AccorHotels Middle East, said: “This opening signifies the strategic expansion of our luxury portfolio in Jordan. Through this development with our trusted partner, we aim to bring the French art de vivre to a vibrant and growing market.”

AccorHotels operates three hotels in Jordan, including the recently opened Fairmont Amman and the ibis Amman.

In the Middle East, AccorHotels currently operates over 100 hotels, encompassing close to 34,000 rooms, in addition to almost 90 hotels under development across the luxury to economy segments within the next five years.

The network is expected to double in size, bringing over 26,000 additional rooms to the region.
