Bahrain’s Alba sets new record with 2017 production volume

Bahrain-headquartered aluminium smelter, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced that its production volume for 2017 is the highest annual production recorded in the company’s history.

In a statement, the company said that its 2017 production volume hit 981,016 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa), 1% higher compared to 2016.

Commenting on the company’s new record, Tim Murray, chief executive officer (CEO) of Alba, said: “Alba’s record-breaking production speaks volumes about our resilience and determination to achieve excellence against all odds.

“We aim to rise higher in 2018 as we progress with the construction of Line 6 Expansion Project.”

According to Alba, 2017 was the sixth year in a row that it has surpassed its annual production, noting that in 2012, the company’s production record was 890,217mtpa; 912,700mtpa in 2013; 931,427mtpa in 2014; 960,643mtpa in 2015; and 971,420mtpa in 2016.
