Video: How to ask the right questions for pump application
One needs to look beyond a consultant's specification to know which pump is right for an application
One needs to look beyond a consultant's specification to know which pump is right for an application.
Balagopal Nair, the marketing and business development manager at Faisal Jassim Group, has explained that one of the biggest issues in the market is that people do not ask the right questions.
Professionals tend to be concerned with the smaller aspects of finding the right pump, rather than the broader details. Nair said: “No one has ever asked me what the best pump is to use for a particular application, for the given capacities or for the given hydraulics. Usually the designers will give us the hydraulics, and based on the hydraulics we select a pump."
A building may have several pumps performing various tasks. Although pumps do not represent a large fraction of the total building cost, careful selection of the pump type and size will reduce the first cost and the cost of operation of the building over the years. In addition, proper selection of the pumps in terms of project specification and requirements will also make the building more valuable by providing reliable service at a low cost.
