Kuwait has announced the launch of a campaign aimed at rehabilitating the water sector in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa.

Called “Kuwait beside you”, the campaign is part of efforts to refurbish water pumping stations in Sanaa to make sure that the city’s residents have access to sufficient water supply.

The project is expected to benefit more than 50,000 people living in eight residential areas, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Valued at $32,000 (YER8m), the project will include a fully equipped water station building, a 300KW power generation unit, and a 200KW pumping unit.

In addition to Yemen’s water sector, Kuwait is looking to provide assistance in the rehabilitation of the country’s food, education, and healthcare industries.
