Bapco, Technip to sign Bahrain refinery expansion deal

State-owned Bahrain Petroleum Co (Bapco) and a TechnipFMC-led consortium are set to sign contracts for the expansion of Bahrain Refinery at the end of January 2018, it has been revealed.

According to Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s oil minister, expansion works on the refinery will commence within 48 to 50 months.

Upon completion of the expansion project, the facility’s capacity is expected to reach 400,000 barrels per day, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The oil minister also revealed that the country’s oil industry will see investments in construction projects topping $6bn (BHD2.3bn) in 2018, adding that he expected oil prices to exceed $70 per barrel this year.
