The UAE Ministry of Interior has signed an agreement with telecom services provider, Etisalat, it has been revealed.

The agreement is a step towards connecting houses and villas to the operations rooms of the Civil Defence, through an easily installed and independent smoke detection system, according to UAE state news agency, WAM.

An internal warning whistle for the immediate evacuation of residents will also be implemented as part of the agreement.

The agreement is reportedly in line with efforts to improve response times of the civil defence sector in emergency cases, and aims to promote preventive measures and public safety standards in residential houses and commercial establishments.
