Phase 2 extension works on UAE's Emirates Road 55% complete
The Ras Al Khaimah project, worth almost $25m, is due to finish in Q2 2018, ministry officials confirmed
Construction works on the second phase of the Emirates Road extension project in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) are progressing as planned, it has been revealed.
The project, a part of the emirate's Ring Road, is worth $24.5m (AED90m), and is 55% complete.
RAK Ring Road is expected to be completed in Q2 2018.
Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, the UAE's Minister of Infrastructure Development, said the project would provide RAK motorists easy access to highways leading to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and other neighbouring emirates.
"The RAK Ring Road, once completed, will reduce travel time for vehicles to the emirate by more than 30%, and will serve the emirate for the next 30 years,'' the minister added.
During his visit, the minister also inspected the Umm Al Quwain building of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
The three-floor facility is expected to be completed by Q3 2018, according to WAM.
