Dubai Municipality has announced completing preventive maintenance work on 800 of its buildings and facilities in Dubai in 2017.

The authority’s general maintenance department reportedly implemented preventive maintenance plans in accordance with technical specifications and requirements approved by contractors specialising in MEP, fountains, swimming pools, and civil works, among others.

According to Dubai Municipality, the initiative was undertaken to make sure that its facilities comply with sustainability standards and requirements.

The estimated value of Dubai Municipality’s buildings and facilities has exceeded $21.8bn (AED80bn), UAE state news agency, WAM, reported, quoting Jabir Al Ali, director of general maintenance department.

Al Ali also revealed that the municipality has designed and executed 118 construction projects worth $147.8m (AED543m).

He said: "These projects are vital to the provision of services to all segments of society in the emirate in particular and the UAE in general.

“These projects include the development of the Dubai Fruit and Vegetable Market, [as well as the] maintenance of a number of schools, sports clubs, and the Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed mosques in the Eastern Province and the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.”
