UAE firm supplies fire-retardant coating to Saudi Hajj authority
MVL Firestop's fire-retardant coating was used on Hajj tents by the Hajj authority in Saudi Arabia
MVL Firestop has revealed that it entered into a partnership with the Government of Saudi Arabia in 2017 to promote safety during the Hajj season.
The general manager of the MVL Group subsidiary told Construction Week that the company provided the kingdom’s Hajj authority with a fire-retardant coating called DC68.
DC68, according to Karim Elshafie, was its top-selling product in Saudi Arabia, where it was used on the Hajj tents.
Transparent and odourless, the product can be sprayed on “anything that absorbs water”, to make the material fire-retardant, said Elshafie.
Its partnership with the Saudi authority was among the highlights of MVL Firestop’s business in 2017, he added, noting that the year also saw the company expand into Turkey to supply products for an airport expansion project.
In the region, the UAE-based company reportedly handed over nearly 90 projects last year, a number that MVL is hoping to more than double this year.
