Spanish hydro-technology firm Aqualia has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Majis Industrial Services to manage and operate water installations in Sohar Port, Oman.
As per the agreement, both firms will undertake operations and maintenance for 20 years of seawater intake plants, production and supply of drinking and process water, as well as the collection and network of cooling water, Majis Industrial Services said in a statement.
The new JV will be known as Oman Sustainable Water Services SAOC, Muscat Daily reported.
According to the Spanish firm, the new company will operate and maintain the installations for sea water intake, the production and supply of drinking water and the processing, collection and system for cooling water, waste water treatment, sewerage system and the management of recycled waste water.
Initially Aqualia will begin sea water intake and will extend the service to other processes in Sohar Port installations under the jurisdiction of the port authority.
In a press release issued by Aqualia, Luis de Lope, international director of Aqualia, said: “It is a project that promotes innovation and continuous improvement, where we can provide our knowledge and experience in all facets of the water cycle.
"We are starting our route today in Oman in the hands of Majis. We were impressed by their professionalism and attention to details.”
