Carillion Alawi was awarded Construction Week Oman 2018’s Health and Safety Initiative of the Year award in Muscat
Carillion Alawi’s Tech Safety Initiative won top health and safety honours at the Construction Week Oman Awards 2018, held in Muscat earlier this week.
The gala ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt Muscat hotel on Monday, 12 March, 2018.
Carillion Alawi was awarded Construction Week Oman 2018’s Health and Safety Initiative of the Year honours.
The contractor’s initiative was designed to improve onsite safety through the use of technology.
The initiative led to the company improving its annual all accident frequency rate – or AAFR – by 32% in 2017, compared to corresponding 2016 figures.
Services & Trade Co’s CARE (Creating Awareness for a Risk-free Environment) programme was named this year’s Highly Commended Health and Safety Initiative.
Finalists under the category included the Construction Safety Campaign by Voltas Oman; Hazard and Risk Awareness in RAHDP HSE Center by the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Ras Al Hamra Development Team; and the Safe Skidding Of Shunt Reactor Transformer by Larsen & Toubro (Oman).
