Saudi Arabia’s growing freehold property segment is boosting demand for facility management-based services, according to Jamal Lootah, president of the Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA).

Speaking during a workshop and networking event that MEFMA hosted in Jeddah on 26 March, 2018, Lootah said: “This workshop proves to be very timely and strategic, as we are currently witnessing an increased demand for FM-based services across Saudi Arabia's property market, particularly the freehold property segment.

“The workshop was aimed towards helping MEFMA further consolidate its ties with the Kingdom's various associations and organisations operating in the FM sector and represents a key opportunity for us to facilitate a smooth exchange of expertise and knowledge to discuss industry challenges and develop solutions to address them.”

Held at the Sofitel Hotel in Jeddah Corniche, the event featured a panel discussion on the strategic role of FM in Saudi Arabia’s freehold property sector.

Panellists included Mohammad Al Duraibi, MEFMA board member; Hazim Al-Dabbagh, managing partner at SureFix Facility Management; Kristina Ruehland, consultant for property and community management at Abdul Latif Jameel Land; and Colin Caulfield, project director of Select FM, which is managed by EFS Facility Management.

The event also hosted a workshop facilitated by Ruehland and Al-Dabbagh.
