FAMCO rolls out Euro 5 Volvo Trucks in the UAE
Starting 2018, all trucks imported into the UAE must be Euro 4-compliant, according to a mandate by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology
Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company (FAMCO) announced the launch of Euro 5 Volvo Trucks in the UAE.
FAMCO, which is the exclusive distributor of Volvo Trucks in the Emirates, said the launch supports the UAE's Vision 2021 ambition to boost sustainability and environmental safety in the country.
The country's Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) had previously mandated that all trucks imported starting 2018 must be Euro 4-compliant.
FAMCO's latest Volvo Trucks are equipped with On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), a feature that provides information about emission levels during truck inspections.
Alongside the launch of the Euro 5 models, FAMCO unveiled the Globetrotter cab for the Volvo FH range.
Globetrotter cabs are 340mm taller than Volvo FH's current sleeper cabs, and are designed to boost fuel efficiency.
Because the cab's windscreen is bonded to its body, the Globetrotter series results in less cabin noise, and better crash protection.
Commenting on the roll-out of Euro 5-compliant trucks, Vladimir Knezevic, managing director of FAMCO UAE, said: "As the whole industry is shifting its focus to decreased fuel consumption and increased fleet efficiency, Volvo Trucks with its advanced safety features and Euro 5 emission standards is in a class of its own.
"The new trucks in addition to supporting the government’s efforts to lower pollution levels also ensure our customers drive environment-friendly trucks that are more fuel-efficient and provides greater productivity and returns."
Remarking on the new Globetrotter range, Jan-Erik Thoren, managing director of Volvo Trucks Middle East, added: "The Volvo FH with the new Globetrotter cab is the future of trucks and sets new standards in drivability.
"The new trucks make no compromises on power, safety, comfort and versatility and are perfectly suited for construction and long-haul transportation."
