Office hub to be constructed within Oman's Sur Industrial Estate
Initial designs have been set for a zone that will offer land plots for office development, with Sur Industrial Estate now eyeing detailed designs and construction of infrastructure
Initial designs have been completed for a commercial hub within Oman's Sur Industrial Estate (SIE).
A plot of land along the access road leading to SIE's industrial zone has been designed for the office cluster.
The plan is aimed at providing land that may be used for commercial real estate development.
SIE is estimated to comprise 2,366ha of leasable area, of which 671ha is currently leased out.
Eng Abdullah Al Kaabi, director general of SIE, said the design features elements of smart cities, as well as sustainable and modern building standards.
He added: "It also provides space for residential, recreational, and health investments.
"[SIE's] vision and growth strategy emerged from a technical-economic study to localise multi-use investments in the estate."
An investment agreement has been signed with Oman Gas Company, which will develop its regional office within SIE.
A training institute will also be developed within SIE's commercial hub.
"[During] the coming period, [we] will concentrate on detailed design of the infrastructure elements, followed by [...] construction of the infrastructure," Al Kaabi revealed, according to a statement by SIE.
SIE's ongoing construction projects include a sewage plant within its premises. The award of a consultancy contract to design and supervise SIE's planning and infrastructure services is imminent.
A feasibility study to establish a port within SIE is under way, with its results due to be announced in H1 2018.
