Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has signed an agreement to connect district cooling services to the Address Hotel at JBR, Marsa Dubai, at a total capacity of 6,500 refrigeration tonnes (RT).

The 74-storey, 170,012m2 tall building serves as a hotel and residences, with Empower scheduled to start delivering its services in July 2019.

Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “We are committed to providing highly-efficient district cooling services, according to the highest international standards and best practices, in line with the directives of  HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

“This supports Dubai’s pioneering role in reducing carbon emissions. We also provide district cooling services to a number of prestigious projects in Dubai, including several projects in the hospitality sector.”

Empower supplies district cooling to approximately 17% of the more than 674 hotels in Dubai, according to the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the principal authority for the planning, supervision, development and marketing of tourism in Dubai.

Empower also connects its services to various hotel developments across the emirate, including the W Resort Hotel & Residences, Emerald Palace Kempinski, Burj Al Arab, and The Retreat Palm, located in Palm Jumeirah.
