The deadline for the design tender of the UK's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has been extended.

According to a listing by the UK's Department of International Trade (DIT), tendered services cover the architectural, construction, engineering, and inspection categories.

Companies initially had until 24 April, 2018, to submit their expression of interest (EOI) documentation, but this window has now been extended.

In a statement on its website, DIT said: "The deadline for stage 1 tender submissions has been extended to 30 April. The decision was taken following the high level of interest shown during the supplier day events that have taken place in early April.

"The deadline extension gives designers, architects and other creative suppliers the best possible chance to put forward their proposed teams."

DIT's website states that the contract is estimated to start on 1 October, 2018, and end around 30 April, 2021.

The UK's International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox, said DIT was "looking for an innovative, award-winning design concept for the UK’s pavilion at Expo 2020, which creates the most original, inspiring and memorable visitor experience possible".

Earlier this month, it was revealed that a joint venture (JV) of Mace and Jacobs had been appointed as the UK Government’s delivery partner for the pavilion.

Design, procurement, and construction activities for the pavilion will be managed by the Mace-Jacobs JV.
