Arabtec subsidiary wins $118m Dubai Municipality contract

Starting this May, Arabtec Engineering Services will work on Dubai Municipality's DS 188 Jebel Ali Industrial Sewerage and Drainage System

A subsidiary of Arabtec Holding has been awarded a $117.8m (AED433m) contract by the Dubai Municipality (DM). 

Arabtec Engineering Services (AES) has been awarded an infrastructure project from DM for the DS188 Jebel Ali Industrial Sewerage and Drainage System.

The project will start in May 2018, and span for 30 months. 

Work included within the contract includes 65km of sewer, and 91km of stormwater networks, which will require 17km of micro-tunneling works. 

The project is aimed at supplying sewerage and stormwater drainage services for Community 599 in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area. 

Over the last nine years, AES has completed and delivered 12 projects for DM, worth $247.5m (AED909m). 

Commenting on the contract win, Eng Amin Shahin, chief executive officer (CEO) of AES, said: "We are pleased and honored to continue working for the DM, [with] whom we are privileged to have worked for over the last 21 years."

Group CEO of Arabtec Holding, Hamish Tyrwhitt, added: "We are pleased to have been awarded the DS188 sewerage and drainage project, which continues our long-standing relationship with DM.
