Podcast: Construction Week Viewpoint - Abu Dhabi transformation
Construction Week Viewpoint's second podcast episode explores tourism's effect on hospitality and leisure development in the UAE capital
Abu Dhabi wants to become one of the world’s greatest cities for tourism, and this ambition has fuelled development of cultural, entertainment, and hospitality projects.
In the second episode of the Construction Week Viewpoint SoundCloud podcast, Abu Dhabi’s economic transformation, its efforts to encourage tourism, and the effect this continues to have on building projects is explored in a 10-minute discussion.
The respective chief executive offices of Imkan and Bloom Holdings, both Abu Dhabi property developers, claim that rising tourism numbers to the UAE capital can only be a good thing for business.
Walid El-Hindi, chief executive officer, Imkan, told Construction Week that “the growth of Abu Dhabi [tourism] is the main factor for Imkan”, as the new company moves forward with its massive mixed-use Maker’s District development.
Bloom Holdings chief executive offer, Sameh Muhtadi, added: “We’re hoping the growth of Abu Dhabi will mean more business for our hotels.”
The podcast is hosted by Construction Week’s deputy editor, Oscar Rousseau, and ConstructionWeekOnline’s editor, Jumana Abdel-Razzaq.
