UAE’s Citymax Hotels appoints new COO, details expansion plans

A part of the hospitality division of Landmark Group, Citymax has plans to grow its current four-hotel, 1,384-key portfolio to eight hotels and 2,333 keys

Citymax Hotels has announced the appointment of Aly Shariff as its chief operating officer (COO).

In his new role, Shariff will be responsible for the operations and development of the Citymax Hotel brand.

He has nearly 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Citymax Hotels, he worked at UK hospitality company Whitbread for 17 years, more than a decade of which was spent developing and operating its Premier Inn brand in India and South East Asia.

A part of the hospitality division of Landmark Group, Citymax has plans to grow its current four-hotel, 1,384-key portfolio to eight hotels and 2,333 keys.

According to the company, it will be opening hotels in Ras Al Khaimah and in Dubai’s Business Bay and Al Barsha at the end of this year.

Plans for a second hotel in Egypt are also at an advanced stage after the launch of Citymax Aswan in late 2017, the company’s first managed hotel and first hotel outside of the UAE.

Also a managed hotel, the second property in Egypt will be located in Alexandria and is expected to be operational in 2019, Citymax said in a statement.
