Kuwait’s Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Jinan Boushehri, has referred a report on alleged housing unit allocation violations to the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha).

A final report on suspected violations of housing unit allocation in South Khaitan, a Kuwait City suburb, has been referred to Nazaha, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

A ministerial investigation committee probed four suspected housing unit allocation violations in the area, which included a review of two complaints filed with authorities.

The committee found one violation in a housing unit that was not eligible for allocation requirements in South Khaitan. Ministers have recommended that the unit should be revoked, due to infringement of allocation laws and regulations in Kuwait.

Sanctions could also be levied against one executive and one manager for two allegations: negligence over a review of a “non-eligible case” and a failure to file a “credible” report on the violation, according to KUNA.

The committee is now working alongside the legal department over the alleged violations and may take necessary legal measures, which could include the imposition of sanctions.

Any proven violation will be met with “firm punishment” on any individual, irrespective of their job title or seniority, Boushehri said, according to KUNA.

She added that HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah’s “directions on combating administrative and financial corruption, and holding responsible those whose illegal actions lead to corruption" have been a significant support in "eliminating violations".
