Saudi Arabia needs to build 5,000 beds by 2020.

Construction Week Viewpoint's latest episode looks at how Saudi Arabia's growing population is increasing the need to build bigger and better hospitals.

Saudi Arabia's average life expectancy has increased from 66 years to 74 years, and the country has a young population with 70% below the age of 40. This is putting pressure on the healthcare industry, and Saudi is working quickly to address the issue by building larger and more advanced hospitals.

A recent report by Knight Frank concluded that KSA requires an additional 20,000 beds by 2035 to cope with the pace of population growth in the country.

In this latest Construction Week Viewpoint episode, Saudi Arabia's hospital building spree is analysed by the editorial team of Construction Week. The podcast touches on the raft of government initiatives and the biggest medical investment in the Gulf.

The podcast is hosted by Construction Week’s deputy editor, Oscar Rousseau, and ConstructionWeekOnline’s editor, Jumana Abdel-Razzaq.
