It is the latest addition in Nakheel's ongoing expansion of Dragon City, and brings the total land area of the mixed-use development to more than 1km², Dubai Media Office reported.

Dragon City is a large-scale shopping, residential, and leisure destination that features Dragon Mart, the world’s biggest Chinese trading hub outside of mainland China. It is also home to the sister mall, Dragon Mart 2, which opened in 2015.

Nakheel’s first hotel opened in Dragon City in 2016, and a 304-room Premier Inn is under construction in the same area.

Meanwhile, the developer's Dragon Towers, a twin-building residential development with 1,120 apartments, is set to break ground in Q3 this year.

Recently, the Dubai-based developer awarded Beijing Water Design a $17.9m (AED66m) contract to build a 12,000m² "dancing fountain" for The Pointe on Palm Jumeirah.
