A subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, Emirates Falcon Electromechanical Co (EFECO), has won a $31.8m (AED117m) mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contract for Emaar's Creek Horizon Plot 19 in Dubai.

Creek Horizon is located within Dubai Creek Harbour, a joint venture project between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding.

EFECO was awarded the deal by the main contractor on site, AFC.

Creek Horizon's Plot 19 has a total built-up area of 13ha, and its towers will feature approximately 550 apartments.

Project work will start in June 2018 and will last 20 months.

Creek Horizon is a group of residential towers, and is in close proximity to another EFECO project in Dubai Creek Harbour, the Creekside 18, a twin-tower development.

Commenting on the contract win for its subsidiary, group chief executive officer of Arabtec Holding, Hamish Tyrwhitt said: "We are pleased that EFECO has been awarded another project in the Dubai Creek Harbour development.

"Repeat business from our key clients is testament to our ongoing commitment towards applying innovative approaches to enhance our work and delivery capabilities.

"We look forward to working with AFC and on another project for Emaar Properties, as we continue to build on our solid relationships in our core markets.”

For the last two years, Arabtec Holding has refocused its business around its core markets and competencies to deliver long-term, sustainable profit growth. In an interview with Construction Week, Tyrwhitt said the company will focus on core GCC markets moving forwards, but suggested the company could explore Egypt, and other countries in North Africa too.
