A design and construction tender has been floated for the Netherlands’ Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion.

Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has been commissioned by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to oversee the pavilion’s design, build, maintenance, and dismantling work. RVO is a part of the Netherlands’ Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

The scope of work within the tender includes, among other activities, creating preliminary and final designs, in addition to the pavilion’s construction.

Construction work related to the pavilion includes the development of its exhibition space, business and VIP lounges, restaurants, shops, and functional spaces, such as technology and storage areas, work and office spaces, meeting and reception room, dressing room, prayer room, and toilets.

The development of outdoor areas and gardens may also be added to the scope of works.

Furthermore, the tender will require the maintenance of the pavilion during Expo 2020 Dubai, and its dismantling following the event's completion.

The tender is currently live, and closes on 3 September, 2018. The start of assignment date has been fixed as 19 October, 2018, with its completion slated for 31 May, 2021.

According to tender documents released by RVO, the Dutch pavilion’s plot spans 2,170m2, and has an assigned building height of 15m.

This May, the Government of Netherlands announced it would invest $22.5m on its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.

At the time, the Dutch government said it would launch a multiyear campaign focused on the “innovative solutions that the Netherlands has to offer the entire Gulf region in the areas of water, food, and energy”. This focus also forms part of its “nexus” theme for the expo.
