'Fast-track' revamp of Emaar's Al Alamein Hotel in Egypt completed
Orascom said it refurbished, upgraded, and handed over the 200-key luxury hotel to Emaar Hospitality Group in less than eight months
Revamp works for Emaar’s Al Alamein Hotel in Egypt have been completed by Egypt-headquartered contractor, Orascom Construction.
The hotel was completed and handed over to Emaar Hospitality Group in less than eight months, in line with the fast-tracked project’s schedule.
In a statement, Orascom said it “implemented an intensive schedule to refurbish, upgrade, and convert” the hotel as it rebrands into a luxury, 200-room property.
The facility is based within Emaar’s Marassi resort on Egypt’s North Coast. A marina is currently under construction within Marassi, with Orascom acting as the project’s main contractor.
Commenting on the development, Osama Bishai, chief executive officer of Orascom, said: “We are pleased to work with a big player and repeat client like Emaar and are proud to deliver this high quality project in record timing.
“Such projects are expected to boost Egypt’s tourism and our ability to consistently execute projects on a fast-tack basis will be of great resource to other developers.”
Last month, Bishai told Construction Week that Orascom’s Middle East backlog is currently valued at around $3.4bn.
“While we are evaluating opportunities across the region, Egypt is currently our largest market, followed by Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Algeria,” he added.
Bishai is one of the leaders to be featured in the 2018 Construction Week Power 100, the comprehensive annual ranking of the Middle East’s most influential construction professionals.
