Awareness about the significance of facilities management (FM) has grown in key Middle Eastern markets, such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in H1 2018 – but will this continue in H2?

H1 2018 has also witnessed the entry of new FM companies – the Tier-2 space is getting competitive, and in some cases, these new firms are even knocking on the doors of Tier-1 companies.
There have been some interesting movement in terms of clients realigning contracts with their FM companies, and in some cases in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, developers have replaced preferred service providers with newer contemporaries.
Price has been a crucial factor as the sands shift in the Middle East's FM market. No longer is the lowest bid the contract winner – elements such as energy performance, the environmental impact of operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and the quality of work are prominent requirements for contract wins.
Clearly, FM companies’ efforts to raise awareness about their services appear to be paying off, and H2 2018 might well be an unusually exciting time for the industry.
