India-based construction company, Larsen & Toubro, plans to compete for more work in the GCC after recent contracts wins on several major projects.

Among the project deals is the construction contract for Mogul Gardens-2 at Discovery Gardens, which is being developed by Nakheel. The project involves the construction of 27 residential towers across a built-up area of 178,050m2 and will be completed early next year.

The company was also awarded a US $119 million (AED437 million) contract as part of Trident International�s Marina Scape project, which will be made up of residential twin towers at Dubai Marina. The 35-storey Oceanic and 25-storey Avant towers will between them comprise over 200 apartments and villa complexes.

 

Earlier this week, Larsen & Toubro was awarded a $120 million contract from Bahwan Group to build a residential township in Sohar, Oman.

The project involves the construction of nine buildings with a total of 288 two and three-bedroom apartments, and 149 three and four-bedroom villas.

The company has also picked up a contract worth $94.33 million for the construction of six electrical substations in Al Ain on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority. The project calls for the design and construction of a civil works building and putting in over 120km of 33kV cabling. It is due to be completed within 18 months.
