DMCC's mixed-use Uptown Dubai project on track
More than 150 piles were installed over the past few months for the first of two super-tall towers at DMCC's mixed-use Uptown Dubai development next to Dubai's JLT
The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) said its upcoming Uptown Dubai project is proceeding “at pace” with piling and raft works for the first of two super tall towers, part of the planned mixed-use development next to Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), already completed.
According to a DMCC statement, the past few months have seen more than 150 piles installed for the tower, with another 140 put in place to support the first the of a podium, which features a two-level central plaza – including food and beverage outlets, retail spaces and entertainment zones.
The Dubai-based trade and enterprise zone, and master developer of JLT, pointed out that the raft foundation, comprising of 2,500 tonnes of steel and over 12,000m3 of concrete, was also poured over a continuous 46-hour operation.
Following a partnership with Accor Hotels, the supertall tower will comprise luxury hotel rooms and suites, high-end restaurants, health spas, extensive conference facilities, grade A offices, and 237 uniquely designed branded residences.
Speaking on the news, DMCC executive chairman, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said: “DMCC is laser focused on delivering Uptown Dubai and the team has worked tirelessly to ensure that the critical foundations supporting the supertall tower were delivered on time and within budget.

DMCC’s executive director, property, Paul Ashton, said that completing the foundation is a “key milestone for the supertall tower and the start of a very exciting journey”.
Earlier this year, DMCC appointed New York-based firm Rockwell Group as the interior designer for the tower.
Ashton said the group will be announcing Uptown Dubai’s main contractor “later this year”.
