A large fire broke out at Saudi Arabia’s general prosecution building in Dammam on 2 September, according to the kingdom’s press agency (SPA).

The Dammam branch blaze, according to SPA, did not cause any human or data loss, with a source at the general prosecution headquarters in Riyadh stating that the electronic system automatically saves copies of all documents and data.

The source added that no criminal suspicion had been recorded regarding the Dammam branch building's fire, which broke out after a technical fault with "conditioning machines" installed on the upper floor, SPA reported.

According to local media daily Saudi Gazette, the terrace fire broke out at a time when office hours were over, adding that Saudi Arabia’s Public Prosecutor Saud Al-Moajab had inspected the 10-storey twin-tower building, which had suffered extensive damage.

He reportedly added the branch office and its circuits would resume work at another building on 3 September.
