Video: Construction Week In Focus | Bad weather is changing contracts

S02E17 of Construction Week's YouTube series explores how poor weather conditions are now managed by regional construction and FM companies

Bad weather has a major impact on the construction and building management sectors in the Middle East, and the industries are evolving to accommodate poor site conditions in their contracts.

High-access companies, such as Grako, have explained how it can be counterproductive to clean buildings during a period of poor weather.

Weather forecast and predictions are critical to facilities management (FM) companies, and numerous firms, such as Cofely Besix FM, have revealed that they have subscriptions to weather forecast apps.

Bad weather can also impact construction site management, with time being a precious commodity. Safety is a critical factor here, so working in line with standards such as Industrial Rope Access Trade Association's (IRATA) is crucial for high-access cleaning firms.

FM companies have specialised procedures that kick in when weather conditions change, which also helps them meet the SLAs and KPIs in their contracts.

In this episode of Construction Week In Focus, Oscar Rousseau and Nikhil Pereira, the respective deputy editors of Construction Week and facilities management Middle East, discuss how weather-based management is making its way into construction and FM contracts.
