Abu Dhabi’s Al Maryah Central Mall has a reached a major project “milestone”, obtaining its building completion certificate that signals the construction phase is now over.

The certification, according to a statement by the mixed-use development, is also recognition that “multiple authorities have inspected and approved the new mall’s design, build quality, and safety standards”.

It also means tenants of Al Maryah Central, including global fashion, dining, and entertainment brands, can now take possession of their units and commence fit-out nearly a full year before the mall opens its doors on 27 August 2019.

The huge $1.5bn (AED5.5bn) development is spread across 334,450m2, and includes a 260,128m2 regional shopping centre anchored by two US-based department stores, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s.

Speaking on the news, Kevin Ryan, chief operating officer as Gulf Related, which manages Al Maryah Central, said: The Building Completion Certificate at this important stage is a testament to the advancement of the project.”

“I would like to thank Multiplex Middle East for their continued collaboration with Gulf Related and congratulate all internal and external project teams alongside our stakeholders on this outstanding achievement.”

“As we conclude construction, Al Maryah Central has now moved into the pre-opening phase,” added Daniel Parry, managing director at Gulf Related.

“In the coming weeks, we will announce many additional brands, which together will create an incredibly exciting retail, entertainment and dining mix for Abu Dhabi’s residents and visitors.”
