The hospitality and leisure arm of Dubai-based development heavyweight Nakheel has unveiled the UAE’s first “floating swimming” pool at its flagship Dubai development, Palm Jumeriah.

Located 50m offshore, according to a Nakheel Hospitality and Leisure statement, the 1.2m-deep pool is an extension of Nakheel’s Breeze Beach Grill at Club Vista Mare and will be accessible by a 50m walkway.

With seating for up to 75 people, the pool is attached to the seabed using the Seaflex anchor system that is used for pontoons and floating jetties, the developer explained.

Speaking on the ambitious project, Thorsten Ries, managing director of Nakheel Hospitality and Leisure, said: “This stunning new attraction is unique because it allows guests to choose from a freshwater dip in the pool or saltwater swim in the Arabian Gulf, in one offshore location."

He said the pool has been constructed over the summer to be ready for the winter season, and is “already the talk of the town”.

Daytime entry to the pool is for adults only, and costs $54 (AED200) per person, half of which is redeemable on food and drinks from Breeze.
