Imkan to award Riviera of the Emirates construction contract in 2019
Work will begin on Phase 1 of AlJurf in 2019, Jassim Alseddiqi told Construction Week
Imkan will award a Phase 1 construction contract for its mixed-use residential community and nature reserve, AlJurf, in Q1 2019.
Preliminary work for the mixed-use project situated between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is already under way, board member Jassim Alseddiqi told Construction Week.
Alseddiqi, chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Financial Group, said AlJurf was already “bustling” with activity, as Rivera of the Emirates – the colloquial name for Sahel Al Emarat – gathers momentum.
AlJurf was described as the “nucleus of Sahel Al Emarat riviera” by Alseddiqi.
Imkan is the real estate arm of Abu Dhabi Capital Group and launched the $4bn (AED15bn) AlJurf development at Cityscape Global 2018.
The 3.7km² project is located in Ghantoot on a stretch of undeveloped coastline, and Imkan hopes to develop the area as a second-home destination in the UAE.
AlJurf boasts a 3.4km stretch of coastline, two marinas, a wellness resort, serviced chalet-style villas, parks, restaurants, shops, a private school, a mosque, and three districts – AlJurf Gardens, Jiwar Al Qasr, and Marsa AlJurf.
Phase 1 of AlJurf Gardens, scheduled for completion in 2021, will see 293 villas built. Construction dates for Jiwar Al Qasr, a heritage village, and Marsa AlJurf, the marina district, have yet to be disclosed.
