Gomes has helped to deliver master-planned communities the US, the EU, the Caribbean, and the Middle East during a 30-year career that has seen him work for blue-chip government players, according to Gemini Property Developers.

“Our decision to appoint Sunil Gomes was based on his distinguished career and extensive experience in global real estate development, and his track record in delivering major projects,” said Sudhakar Rao, chairman of Gemini.

“Sunil’s professional background corresponds with the company’s current plans to pursue a real-estate development strategy that contributes to profitability, boosting our financial position and delivering high returns on Gemini’s assets and a sustainable revenue growth,” Rao added.

Gomes said the developer would invest in home automation technology as a way to lower housing costs for its residents: “We [will] use technology to make sure the developments are cost sensitive, whilst ensuring that they meet the needs of the user.”

Gemini is starting to hand over units for its $81.6m (AED300m) mixed-use developer Splendor, located at Sobha Hartland in MBR City.

In conjunction to Splendor, Gemini is working on a 29-storey tower in Business Bay called Symphony. With a total built up area of more than 65,000m², the residential building will have 455 apartments. It is one of a handful of projects Gemini is planning to build across the GCC as it eyes regional expansion.
