For its work on the Al-Wajeed Water Masterplan in Saudi Arabia, Khatib & Alami won the Infrastructure Project of the Year award at the Construction Week Awards 2018.

This year’s judges heaped praise on the project, which was impressive not only for its size, but its socio-economic benefits as well. More than 2,000 people worked on the project at its peak, with the development now catering to more than half a million people.

Highly commended in this category was given to China State Construction Engineering Corporation for its work on the Improvement of Al Wasl Road Interchange, a project lauded by the jury for its contribution to the UAE’s economy and community.

The shortlist for Commercial Project of the Year at the 2018 awards included, in addition to Khatib & Alami and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, ASGC, Bechtel-Enka-Bahwan Consortium, Design Group Engineering Consultants, Hill International, Dubai World Trade Centre, and Larsen & Toubro Saudi Arabia.

Each year, the Infrastructure Project of the Year category attracts some of the leading infrastructure projects across the region.
