FMBG news: Temporary board elected

The FM Business Group (FMBG) has elected a temporary board of directors.

The FM Business Group (FMBG) has elected a temporary board of directors.

At the last networking meeting in December 2006, the following people were elected as board members:

  • Ahmed Bin Juma Belhoul, Gresco Facilities Management;

  •  Dilip Khatwani, Reliance FM;
  • Andrew Barker, Serco.

The DCCI sent the group a draft copy of an example constitution; this will be rewritten by the board and once completed will be submitted to the DCCI for approval.

Sinead Bridgett, project manager of the FM Expo, said: "The formation of the FMBG will mean that the group will be listed on the website on the Chamber of Commerce and will have access to all other groups and members within the chamber's listings."

The formal formation of the group will enable members to have the power to change the laws if they are restricting them in their practice. These will have to be appropved by the DCCI.

The DCCI will issue a press release confirming the formation. The FMBG will then have access to the DCCI's conference rooms and facilities.

"The DCCI have been very positive and supportive will all information provided to date," added Bridgett.

Used as a networking opportunity, the groups have been popular since starting in November 2006. The second meeting saw an increased turnout and both meetings were attended by companies from outside of the UAE, proving FM is present in other areas of the Middle East.
