Alm replaces current incumbent Claes Nilsson who will step down before 2019

Volvo Trucks' new president, Roger Alm, has worked with the company since 1989.

Volvo Trucks has promoted Roger Alm to the position of president as the long tenure of Claes Nilsson nears an end.

Alm has also become a member of Sweden-based Volvo Group's executive board of directors and replaces Nilsoon in both positions, as the former president of Volvo Trucks retires before 2019.

Having worked his way up the ranks at Volvo, Alm started his career with the carmaker in 1989 as a design engineer. During close to 30 years with the automative giant, Alm worked as head of operations in Latin America and senior vice president of Volvo Trucks' northern European arm.

Diana Niu was appointed to Volvo Group's board in conjunction to Alm. She has been named vice president group human resources. Niu had been Volvo Construction Equipment's senior vice president since 2014.

Neither Niu nor Alm made an official statement about their new positions in an announcement circulated by Volvo.

Volvo Trucks is extremely active in the Middle East. Last month, Construction Week's sister title, PMV Middle East, reported that the business had signed an agreement for commercial autonomous transport, a move that shows how driverless technology is re-shaping the construction landscape around the world.
