GE Energy has won a 20-year Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) for work at the Ras Abu Fontas B-2 power plant and desalination project in Qatar.

The multi-million dollar CSA with Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) will cover three GE Frame 9FA gas turbine-generators at the plant. This will be the first installation of this technology in Qatar.

The B-2 project is an expansion of an existing power and desalination facility at the site. It is intended to add 597MW of power and a desalination capacity of 136,380m3/day when it begins operation in 2007.

The CSA covers parts, repairs and field services for planned and unplanned outages.
