Carrier targets air quality with UV Emitters

UTS Carrier has introduced air conditioning units that are fitted with high-power UVC Emitters into the Middle East market. The products are intended to help raise the indoor air quality in buildings.
The high-power UVC Emitters are designed to supply enough germicidal energy to penetrate viruses, bacteria and mould, altering their DNA. As a result, UVC Emitters eliminate both surface organisms that grow inside hvac systems and microbes that normally circulate through the air and back to the building occupants.
The firm has begun the installation of the UVC lights in several retrofit programmes for existing air conditioning units. The lights are normally fitted on models such as 39 series air handling units; 40 RM/RMS fan coil units (FCU); 42 series FCU; and 50 series packaged units.
In the UAE, UTS Carrier's UVC air conditioners have been installed in several projects in the healthcare sector including Prestige Clinic, Trust Medical Centre, Taj Dental Clinic and Canadian Chiropractic & Holistic Clinic.
In Saudi Arabia, air conditioners fitted with UVC Emitters have been installed in several projects including hospitals and villas.
The UVC Emitters manufactured by Steril-Aire have been tested and used in applications for homes, hospitals, offices, shopping malls, factories and food processing throughout the USA for 11 years.
Recent US Environmental Protection Agency tests confirmed that the Steril-Aire Emitters tested were, on average, six times more effective than any other UVC lamp tested.
