Main package on One Business Bay awarded
Emirates Belbadi Contracting collects the US $54 million construction contract
Emirates Belbadi Contracting has won the US $54 million (AED200 million) main construction package for the One Business Bay tower in Dubai.
The 30-storey commercial tower, designed by German architect Kling Consult, was launched by Omniyat Properties in February last year.
Preliminary enabling work was carried out by Dutco Balfour Beatty Group (DBBG).
"We decided to package the construction of the project in order to speed up the erection process and deliver on time. DBBG has done an excellent job and completed their mission on schedule," said Mehdi Amjad, president and CEO, Omniyat Properties.
"To ensure that our strategies are implemented and our promises fulfilled we always try to align ourselves with industry experts in all fields, and this is why we have chosen to join forces with Belbadi, who have a proven track record. Working with such a reputable organisation helps us ensure that the work is completed on time and to the highest quality standards."
Emirates Belbadi Contracting is one of the Belbadi Group of 37 companies. The firm was the product of a joint venture with German construction company Wolf & Muller.
"We're delighted to be chosen as the construction partner for such a premium commercial tower development," said HE Ahmed Saeed Al Badi, chairman, Emirates Belbadi Contracting Company.
"Working with Omniyat Properties [on One Business Bay] is an exciting project. We believe that this high-tech high-rise will be a landmark and an impressive addition to Dubai's ever changing business skyline."
Amjad added that Omniyat has already broken ground and started enabling work on another two of its projects, the Bayswater commercial tower in Business Bay and The Square, a real estate compound with mixed-use components in the Al Mamzar area of Dubai.
