Qatar Kentz has won a turnkey contract from Laffan Refinery for the engineering, procurement and construction of a receiving and loading facility to be built in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar.

The project scope includes developing an entirely new automated gantry facility designed for the loading of diesel product into road tankers as well as transfer by pipeline to the Ras Laffan Port area.

"This project is of strategic importance to the State of Qatar as it creates vital new infrastructure for the distribution of diesel to the domestic market and builds upon the strategic vision started by the realisation of the Laffan Refinery, which became operational earlier in the summer," said Laffan Refinery venture manager Salman Ashkanani.

The facility is scheduled to be fully operational by 2011.
